Holy Matrimony

marriageImmediately contact our pastor or deacon once you and/or the couple is engaged to provide sufficient time for the preparation required for marriage in the Catholic Church by all dioceses in the state of Wisconsin. To be married at St. Peter Catholic Church, the bride or groom must be a registered, active member of the parish community. Weddings may also take place in instances where the bride or groom no longer live in the area yet desire to be married here (please note this circumstance requires a written permission from the pastor of their present parish). Catholic Guidelines for Marriage Preparation has three steps:

1. Assessment - including determination of canonical freedom to marry and administration of the FOCUS, a tool for helping a couple assess and deepen their relationship, with the assistance of trained volunteer couples;

2. Instruction - involving a couple's participation at an Archdiocese of Milwaukee's Engaged Enrichment Program and a meeting with the pastor, and, finally;

3. Liturgical - involving planning of the wedding ceremony. Planning aids are available from the pastor.
