Middle school classes are held for 16 Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:30 PM, throughout the faith formation year. We begin with a large group teaching in the Church Hall and then split into grade-specific small group classes to discuss the topic more in depth. We also explore ways to apply the lesson to our lives at the middle school comprehension level.
Our theme for the 2016-2017 Formation Year is “Understanding Scripture – Genesis to Jesus”. John’s Gospel begins, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be.” John is speaking here of the Incarnate Word of God, Jesus Christ. John is telling us that Jesus was from the beginning; all of Scripture speaks of Jesus, from the very first lines of Genesis in the Old Testament to the very last lines of Revelations in the New Testament. This year we will take a Biblical walk through the Old and New Testaments, discovering the major covenant themes of God’s Love for all of humanity and how Jesus fulfills all God’s Promises and Love for us.
In addition to the regular Wednesday evening classes, students must complete six FIATs during the academic year and summer.
